PERIYAR WILD LIFE SANCTURY
Periyar is one of Indians major sanctuaries with elephants,monkeys and wide boar in abundance as well as some other elusive but occasionally spotted species such as tigers. The sanctuary offers a lovely and comfortable way to sec the animals via boat rides on the man –made lake. Which the wildlife areas encircle. KALARIPAYATTU
Kalaripayattu is believed to be one of the oldest and comprehensive system of martial training prevailing in the world today. Though kalaripayattu is the ancient martial art of this state, it is considered as the forerunner of all martial arts.
The origin of Kalaripayattu can be traced back to the 12th century AD, as historical evidences suggest. The word Kalaripayattu means ‘compact training inside the gymnasium’. The kalari,where the training in kalaripayattu in given., is a specially constructed practicing ground. The kalari is lerning .Religious worship with its own rituals is also is also done inside the kalari.
